When we concluded the last Carolina Hurricane Quilt Project in 2019 for victims of Florence and Michael on our North Carolina coast, I never dreamed I’d see the need for one for victims in my own county. But here we are, just weeks after Helene devastated our beloved Western North Carolina mountains. It has been unsettling for most of us as we watch and read news reports of the Russian invasion into Ukraine. When such upheavals arise, we naturally want to do something to help. Today, I want to share a few ways quilters can support Ukraine.

That was far too close for comfort.
